Posture vs Stand Up!: which break reminder suits you?
Stand Up! is a simple, free reminder for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac: it tells you to stand up every 5 minutes to 2 hours and deliberately doesn't prescribe exercises. Posture goes further on the computer: it counts only the time you're actually working, then guides a 2–3 minute break with a 3D figure that shows each move.
| Posture | Stand Up! | |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Mac, Windows, any browser (Linux, Chromebook) | iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac (and more Apple devices) |
| Price | Free, no account | Free; optional sound pack and tips |
| Shows you what to do | A 3D guide demonstrates every move, with timers, cues and 25 exercise guides | None, by design ("we don't tell you what exercises you need to do") |
| Breaks | 2–3 minute guided break every 30 min of active time (15–60 min) | A reminder every 5 min to 2 h, with an optional standing timer |
| Time away from the computer | Counts only active time; 3 min away counts as a break | Timer-based; can limit alarms to your office location |
| Calls and meetings | Mac: waits while the camera or mic is in use, during calls, presentations and fullscreen, and (opt-in) calendar meetings. Windows: camera, mic and fullscreen | Not mentioned |

Choose Stand Up! if…
- You want reminders on your iPhone or Apple Watch, away from the computer.
- You only want a nudge to stand, with nothing else.
- You like location-based reminders (only at the office).
Choose Posture if…
- You work at a computer and want reminders based on your actual active time.
- You want to know what to do in the break: 25 guided moves for the neck, back, hips, wrists and eyes.
- You use Windows, or a browser, as well as a Mac.
Where Posture is weaker
- It's new. The Mac and Windows downloads aren't code-signed yet, so your computer asks once before opening them.
- It isn't open source, and there's no phone app (the web version works in a phone browser).
- Its breaks are a fixed 2–3 minutes; there are no 20-second micro-breaks.
